Itinerary camping tour Indio Maiz

Our adventure begins at 4/5 AM with a scenic drive through Nicaragua’s heartland towards the dock in San Carlos. Here we will take a boat to the historic village of El Castillo. In El Castillo we have our guide waiting for you to take you into the reserve. The next day, we hike into the Indio Maíz Reserve and at night, we do a boat tour to search for animals and maybe we will even spot some caymanns. The final day includes fishing, swimming, and enjoying the wild nature.

We camp into the Indio Maiz Reserve. You can choose between sleeping in a tent or a hammock, both are provided and set up for you in a safe, designated area surrounded by the jungle. 

The drive from, Granada to San Carlos takes approximately 4/5 hours, depending on road and weather conditions. The boat ride will take 2.5/3 hours to El Castillo.

Indio Maíz is one of the most biodiverse areas in Central America. You might see monkeys, toucans, caimans, crocodiles, dart frogs, sloths, and a wide variety of birds and butterflies. While wildlife sightings can’t be guaranteed, the chances are very high , especially during our early morning and evening walks.
