Los Guatuzos is located in southern Nicaragua, near the southeastern shore of Lake Nicaragua and along the San Juan River, close to the border with Costa Rica.

It is one of Nicaragua’s most important wetland reserves, home to rich biodiversity including monkeys, caimans, turtles, and over 300 species of birds. It’s also the country’s first tropical wetland conservation area.

Activities include kayaking, birdwatching, guided forest walks, visiting butterfly and orchid gardens, fishing, and relaxing in nature.

It has a humid tropical climate, with warm temperatures year-round and significant rainfall, especially between May and November.
