Everything is ready! We begin our journey hand in hand with Mono Loco Adventures, traveling through the land of lakes and volcanoes, forests, rum, and much more. Our leader is the sun, and our flag is a new sunset. After a brief introduction, we embark on an exciting journey towards Granada.
Our local guide will be waiting for us to do a walking tour in the city of Granda, ready to amaze us with inspiring stories. After the tour you are free to explore a bit of the city and grab some lunch. We advise you to try Vigorón, Granada’s traditional dish. Afterwards, you can take some time to relax and recharge before we are heading to Las Isletas de Granada, where we will explore their splendor with local guides and enjoy the sunset from one of the islands on the legendary Lake Nicaragua. We will enjoy our dinner on one of the islands surrounded by nature and breathtaking scenery.

After a Nica-style breakfast, we get ready to reach the summit of Mombacho Volcano, a beautiful hike filled with emotions, stunning landscapes, and a familiar sight across Nicaragua’s Pacific region, volcanoes and lakes.
After some downtime at our hotel, we drive 25 minutes to Laguna de Apoyo, where we will have lunch and spend the afternoon enjoying its peaceful surroundings, drinks, sunshine, and engaging conversations about the country and its people. After sunset, we return back to our hotel, where you can choose your preferred place for dinner. And enjoy the evening.

Our third day begins early, before sunrise, as we set out for Solentiname. We have prepared delicious snacks, drinks, and fresh fruit for lunch on the way. After approximately three hours of travel, local guides will be waiting to take us by boat to the Los Guatuzos Nature Reserve. Here, we will embark on a journey through pristine nature, discovering various plant and bird species and learning so much along the way.
Amidst breathtaking landscapes and raw nature, our senses awaken, and our energy rises, so we will stop for a delicious Nica-style lunch in the reserve. Afterward, we head towards Solentiname and one of the main islands in this incredible archipelago. Along the way we can spot some amazing wildlife! Our expert guides, well-versed in the reserve, will take us on a short yet exciting circuit, where we may even walk through some of the islands.
Upon reaching our destination and checking in, we prepare to witness the sunset while a delightful dinner awaits us, followed by a cozy lakeside bonfire.

After a delicious breakfast, we embark on the Solentiname Tour, an exclusive journey into the island’s history and local culture. We will visit artisans and uncover the fascinating stories behind their craft. We will also learn about Father Ernesto Cardenal, a revolutionary, poet, artist, and somewhat controversial figure.
After lunch at our lodging, we continue our journey to San Juan del Sur. A 40-minute boat ride and a 1.5-hour drive bring us to this vibrant coastal town, where we will witness the sunset from the iconic Christ of Mercy statue, offering a stunning panoramic view. After checking in, you’ll have time to enjoy San Juan del Sur’s nightlife and choose your preferred dinner spot. We have plenty of recommendations for you!

With our stomachs full and our spirits lifted by San Juan del Sur’s radiant sun, we prepare this morning to explore Playa Hermosa, located about 30 minutes from town. This beach offers white sands, rolling waves, and a great vibe. An ideal activity before joining our Catamaran Tour.
On board, we will enjoy food, drinks, games, and even fishing, making for a perfect afternoon on the ocean in this paradise of a country. After sunset, you can have dinner at the place of your choice. And enjoy San Juan Del Surs nightlife.

In the morning, after breakfast and check-out, we will have a wonderful visit to Playa El Remanso, a favorite among locals. We will savor a delicious lunch before driving to the port of San Jorge, where we will board the iconic ferry to Ometepe.
After an hour of breathtaking views, we approach the island with its two majestic volcanoes in sight. Upon arrival, we check in and set off to explore. Punta Santa María offers one of the best views in the country. Later, we return to our hotel and find the best dining option for the evening.

We are going to do a Chocolate Tour, where we will discover the cacao-making process from bean to bar, with tastings included. After this experience, we will enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we embark on a kayaking adventure, gliding through tranquil mangroves, observing exotic birds and wildlife in their natural habitat. We end the day with some well-deserved dinner and rest at the hotel.

We then continue to Catarina, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking Laguna de Apoyo, Mombacho Volcano, and Lake Nicaragua. Here, we can enjoy a coffee while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
To conclude our journey, we travel to Selva Negra, an eco-retreat nestled in the mountains of Matagalpa.

Once at Selva Negra Ecolodge, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast with a stunning landscape and wonderful weather. After checking out and having lunch, we will drive for one hour to Cascada Blanca, one of the many waterfalls in northern Nicaragua. After enjoying some time there and having some snacks, we will begin our journey up into the mountains. But first, we will make a brief stop at another beautiful waterfall, where you have the option to do ziplining. Upon reaching the highlands, we will have dinner at the home of welcoming locals before resting in one of the comfortable cabins, surrounded by coffee plantations and lush vegetation.

It will be a two-hour trek through the rainforest, where our guide will share insights about the plants and history of the area. We will have the opportunity to refresh ourselves in the mountain waters and reach the top to take in the breathtaking landscape. On the way back to the cabins, we will get to know more about the place through the local families and their stories. After lunch, we will check out and embark on a two-hour drive to Fresa Nica, the first, only, and most recent strawberry plantation in Nicaragua. After enjoying a smoothie and a brief tour, we will start our journey to Somoto, with a short stop at a scenic viewpoint. We will have dinner at our eco-lodge in Somoto.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will get ready for the Tobacco Tour, a two-hour experience where we will learn everything about one of the world’s finest tobaccos and the city’s history. Then, we will return to the hotel for lunch and have some time to rest before heading to El Jalacate farm. Imagine a man who dedicated more than 40 years of his life to sculpting an entire mountain. This is a perfect fusion of art and nature. Here, we will enjoy breathtaking landscapes, but the true highlight is the rock carvings transformed by the talent and chisel of a single man over many years. We will learn about his fascinating story and Nicaraguan art in general. After breakfast, we will get ready for a city tour, a two-and-a-half-hour walk through the intellectual capital of the country. We will visit the local market and some museums. Then, you will choose your preferred spot for lunch. At 2 PM, we will head to Telica Volcano, also known as the “Dragon of Fire.” The journey includes a one-and-a-half-hour drive followed by a 45-minute hike to reach the crater of one of the most impressive volcanoes in Nicaragua. We will witness a breathtaking sunset before returning to León, where dinner will be ready for you. If you still have energy, you can experience the city’s nightlife, including bars, karaoke, and more.

After breakfast, we will have the morning free to visit museums of our choice. León is known for its bohemian and cultural atmosphere, as well as its authenticity and student life. In the afternoon, we will head to Cerro Negro, possibly the most famous volcano in Nicaragua and the only one in the world where you can practice sandboarding—sliding down the slopes of an active volcano.
